Before meditation, leaving your home, or expressing your spirituality, be sure to pray and be grateful for the world and those around you.
These videos provide a more physical way of expressing spirituality and prayer. They have been intentionally blurred so that you, the viewer, focus on your movements and have someone in the background to help you not feel alone. As I have done, try and find a space that allows you to freely move and be safe as you get lost in thought and prayer.

It may be hard to quiet the mind or keep the body still. In moments like these, where I want to process a life circumstance or reflect, I draw—allowing myself the freedom to incorporate all parts of self and not put pressure or stock on the outcome. If you feel called to it, join me in creatively introspecting. If you want a prompt to help you reflect, our word prompts are "Lack and Addiction"
There are many prisons that we on earth can find ourselves hostage to. In this time and age, many of the things necessary for survival in some (not all) cases are readily accessible so the time and energy originally spent pursuing, gaining, and sustaining oneself, is freed up and spent on other forms of spending time. This freedom, although a blessing from the divine, from a more burdensome life like our ancestors had experienced introduces newer pockets of fixations or what I refer to has deficits. These are now insecurities we have the time to fixate on or are things we feel incomplete without. It’s no secret in this highly connected world, we are able to further disconnect from our own truths and authenticity in pursuit of what we either think we need or are programmed to believe we must have or do in order to become someone that matters. In this sea of misinformation, misrepresentation, and overindulgence in fruitless endeavors, we lose sight of our own amazing stances in life, what we already have, who we already are or could be. Now this isn’t to say you can’t use those feelings of insecurity or lack as motivators to improve yourself, the danger lies when rather than help, you find yourself hurting more. Pushing yourself further away because current attempts leave you without gain or still leave you feeling as though you lack something. These fixations become addictions, where even if you obtain something of interest, you still feel that deficit and continue to push for something that does not add to you but takes away your ability to enjoy what you already have. In this, you can’t see beyond your pursuit and forget to check in with connections you may have outside of yourself and lose out on time or the ability to enjoy what time on Earth you have with each other fully because in the back of your mind something else takes precedence. From experience, it is hard to break the habit of fixating on a deficit because one your mind is a biological computer programmed to help you focus on things and at times you may not see the dangers of certain actions toward those pursuits because you see positive outcomes from those you follow via social media or learn of. But we have to understand that we have control over what our program does and when it should execute a command or prevent it. As a way of helping you, begin to think about this and ensure you are balancing helpful additions to your life vs. deficit driven addictions, ask yourself how, when, where and why I am pursuing this thing. For example, let’s say you are after maintaining or attaining a youthful appearance as you age, weight loss, wealth, or something more intrinsic like confidence, intelligence, or some other attribute you admire. Now the questions how and when are pretty straight forward, it is your goal setting, when do I want to see “X” and how, operationally what steps can I take to obtain it. You can go about this however it makes in your mind, to track your progress, but as you even start with this conversation remember to ask yourself where and why. Where in this context is where in my life did, I come across the notion that I wanted “X” and why does that matter to me now? As you ask yourself these questions, constantly check in with yourself and start with the why first and continue to drill down the why? For example, let’s say you want a car (no model in mind). Ask yourself, why? Because I want to go to a place? Why again? Because taking the bus takes too long to get around? Why? Because I’m losing out on time that can be spent doing other things? Why? I could go on, but the chain of why’s helps you to remember your drives, but also helps you check in because if at any point in time the why is related to something outside of yourself then you should reassess the actual value of investing potentially time and other resources like money and emotional currency toward that pursuit. For example, with my car example if at any point the why was so people wouldn’t make fun of me for taking the bus or something related to appearances, I would need to reassess things. Remembering this method isn’t to talk you out of improving your life, but keeping yourself honest with yourself, realistic with your goal setting and not indebt yourself beyond what can be repaid and repaired. With that friends, find peace in your reflection and remember you do deserve the world and are more than enough. Now is your time to appreciate what you have and continue to build on what you have been blessed with, that aligns with where you are and what will truly make you happy.
We can always foster growth and a better understanding of ourselves through the stories we allow to exist and spread. Let's work together to become better authors and remind ourselves of the magnificence not only within us, but what can also be found in those around.
